The rates of TB, hepatitis B and hepatitis C vary around the world. All three diseases can cause infections where there are no symptoms for a long time – even years – but then later cause illness or even death.

We offer to test people who have lived in countries where there is a high level of these diseases. This testing is for people who feel well. It enables people to get an infection treated before it does too much damage to the body.

Testing and treatment of these diseases are free in the UK no matter what your immigration status is.

You just need to have a general practitioner (GP, “family doctor”).

Registering with a GP

Everyone in the UK has the right to free care from a GP. If you don’t have proof of ID or address, you can still register. Immigration status or nationality don’t matter - reception won’t ask for immigration documents and won’t share your information with the Home Office unless a serious crime is involved.
