Cheylesmore Manor House

A Timeless Royal Setting

In the heart of Coventry, quietly set along New Union Street, stands one of the city’s most extraordinary hidden treasures, the Gatehouse of Cheylesmore Manor.

With its striking timber façade and centuries of history woven into every beam, this remarkable building offers a rare opportunity to step into the past and celebrate one of life’s most meaningful moments in truly unforgettable surroundings.

Once part of a magnificent royal residence, Cheylesmore Manor holds a distinguished place in England’s history as the only unfortified royal palace outside of London. Today, it has been lovingly preserved, allowing couples to begin their next chapter within walls that have witnessed centuries of stories, celebration, and legacy.

Dating back to 1237, the manor was originally built for the Earl of Arundel before passing into royal hands. By 1320 it became the residence of Queen Isabella, wife of Edward II, and later her grandson, Edward, the Black Prince, figures whose influence still echoes throughout the building today.

What remains is both intimate and awe-inspiring: the original gatehouse and sections of the manor’s cross wings, offering a rare and atmospheric glimpse into a royal past.

Ideal for gatherings of up to 50 guests, it can host both our Royal Experience and the fully enhanced Majestic Experience, offering flexibility to create a ceremony that reflects your style and vision.
