If you are planning to travel abroad after your marriage or civil partnership, you may wish to apply for a passport in your new name.
You can apply for your updated passport up to 3 months before your ceremony, provided you have already given legal notice.
What You Need to Do
As part of your application, you must complete a form confirming your upcoming marriage or civil partnership. This form must be:
Sent to the registration office where your ceremony is booked
Returned to you using a stamped addressed envelope
Submitted along with your passport application
Important Information
Your current passport will be cancelled once your application is processed
Your new passport will be post-dated, meaning it cannot be used until after your ceremony has taken place
Please ensure you do not plan any travel using this passport before your ceremony date.
